Mathematical Development 30th Nov - 3rd Dec '09

This week we have been matching 3-D shapes. A set of 6 shapes was put in a bag and an identical set of shapes was put on a tray in front of us. We took turns to pull a shape out of the bag and match it to the correct shape on the tray.

We made some models with the 3-D shapes.

We played a game called 'Dotty Dinosaurs'. We had to match all the shapes on our board to win the game.

We made stations by putting spots on the floor. We moved around the stations with our 'talking partners'. One of us was the engine at the front and our partner was the carriage behind. On a signal we moved back to our special station.

We played the 'Tidy up' game. The teachers created a mess on the hall floor by emptying baskets of equipment. We had to tidy the mess into the correct crates before the music finished. We were really quick at tidying up!

As we have been learning about different countries and cultures this week, we tasted food from Italy (pizza), Mexico (a mix of southern fried chicken chunks, chicken & salsa tortillas, sweetcorn & spring onion fritter and cajun prawn taco) and India (a lovely curried rice made by Amal's mum which consisted of rice, spices, chickpeas and raisins).

Amal and Shritik's mum kindly brought in some Indian clothes for us to try on which we thoroughly enjoyed.
