2nd - 6th November '09

This week we have been talking about light and colour.

We listened to the story "What makes a rainbow?"

(Communication - reading)

We coloured in rainbow pictures, thinking carefully about the colours we were using and trying our best to colour within the lines.
(Communication - writing)

We can say some colours in Welsh too.

In maths we have been talking about heavy and light.
We sorted heavy and light objects into two sets

(Thinking - develop)
(Number - use mathematical info, interpret & present findings)

We drew ourselves in the middle of a piece of paper then thought of and drew something heavier than us and lighter than us.

(Communication - writing)
(Thinking - develop)

"A cup of coffee is light, a see-saw is heavy"

We listened to the story of 'Noah's Ark' then had a go at sequencing the story in the correct order

(Communication - writing)
(Thinking skills)
We have been planting bulbs outside and talking about what they will need to grow.
(Thinking - develop)
(Communication - oracy)

We are continuing to enjoy taking Elmer the elephant home with us for the night. We have all been very patient in waiting for our turn. Elmer has enjoyed doing lots of different activities like going to the park, cooking, going to ballet lessons, having picnics, etc.

Here are some of his adventures:

We worked really hard over half term with our mums and dads to design a new friend for Elmer.

(Thinking - plan)
(Communication - writing)

Here are some examples of our fantastic work which are now displayed on the Nursery walls:

We painted 'penne' pasta tubes different colours. Once they had dried we practised our fine motor skills by threading them onto string to make necklaces and bracelets.

We used colourful waffle bricks to build a seating area.
(Thinking - develop)

We drew firework pictures by using coloured chalks on black sugar paper.
(Communication - writing)

We 'drew' firework pictures on the plasma screen using the '2Simple' program
(ICT skills)

Well done to our merit award winners this week!
