w/b 20th Sept '10

This week we have been sorting for one criteria (colour)



We have been talking about the parts of the body and their uses. We sang the song "heads shoulders knees and toes" then the teachers chose someone to draw around.



We enjoyed drawing the different parts of the body


Continuous provision activities





We painted our feet and made foot prints on paper
It really tickled!!




We have been 'drawing' our self portraits on the plasma screen



We have started to talk about autumn and went on an Autumn walk.
We painted leaf shapes in autumn colours


We drew around Rosie and Jim and talked about the different parts of their bodies

Curriculum overview for Autumn Term 2010

Language, Literacy & Communication
- Self portraits for autumn term (assessment)
- Begin to recognise and write own name.
- Read/listen to a variety of topic related stories (also taped/CD/online).
- Develop spoken vocabulary in role play areas
- Develop correct pencil grip & left-right orientation through directed pre-writing activities e.g. writing patterns, colourings.
- Develop speaking & Listening skills through singing Nursery rhymes, sharing news, circle time activities, listening lotto games.
- Emergent writing activities e.g. ‘write’ birthday invites/Christmas lists to Santa/prescriptions in baby clinic
- Pre-reading activities e.g. jigsaws, looking at/handling books correctly.
- Computer/IWB/Plasma screen activities for language activities

Mathematical Development
- ABACUS scheme activities
- Count, recognise and name numbers 1 – 10 and beyond.

- Watch Welsh language videos/DVD’s (‘Ding Dong’, ‘Fflic a Fflac’) to
enhance and develop language and extend vocabulary.
- Choose a ‘Helpwr Heddiw’ (today’s helper) and ‘Seren y dydd’ (star
of the day) daily.
